Port Tarakohe Wharf Upgrade, Golden Bay

Client:
Tasman District Council (TDC)
Date:
2023 - 2025

The single-wharf facility was at capacity, with this contract initially for an extension to the breakwater and mooring facilities, upgrading it to an only all-tide, all-weather, deep-water port.

We were engaged as procurement advisors and to provide contractor experience for the ECI tender process. This subsequently developed into the pricing agreements and apportioning of construction risk. We provided commercial support and observation for the client.

Subsequently, we led negotiations for the construction of a new sheetpile wharf, and a purpose-built barge loading slipway to support ongoing and future port operations, a variation to the original breakwater contract.

We took on a client advisory role between contractor and designer; undertook stakeholder management and planning with the Port Manager, Port users, and Taylors & Solly rock supply contracts; oversaw financial control, variations, and claim verifications; and provided reporting to the client (TDC) and the Regional Infrastructure Fund (RIF).
