This major project involved the installation of a large stormwater mixing chamber and 1.8m diameter stormwater pipes in St Vincent Street to provide greater resilience to heavy rain events. Features included significant existing services relocation to provide a construction corridor; commercial management of contaminated material – coal tar throughout the pavement layers; significant mixing box structures deep excavation; multiple stakeholders – neighbouring businesses; full road closure and traffic management – which reduced programme.
We were involved from early design stages through to procurement. This included the review of contractor estimates in a single tender process for the additional works and negotiating an appropriate price for the works. NCC subsequently engaged us to review and reduce the critical path with the contractor to meet project timelines.
