During Cyclone Gabrielle and subsequent weather events, more than 100 bridges in Tairāwhiti suffered varying degrees of damage. These have required minor or major repairs, with some eight requiring a complete replacement.
We have been embedded in Gisborne City Council as Client Programme and Project Managers for both the repair and rebuild programmes, managing $107m of work. This has included the creation of a delivery plan for rebuilds and repairs as follows:
Bridge Repair
- Classification and prioritisation of repairs dependent on the level of damage
- Setup and administration of Bridge Repair Contractor Panel
- Client Project Manager for delivery
Bridge Rebuild
- Coordination of funding applications, business case development, consenting, economic feasibility studies, design management and strategic planning
- Designer procurement
- Construction procurement for four bridge rebuild contracts
- Tender evaluation team for detailed design for multiple bridge rebuilds
- Delivery – MSQA verification audits
- Bridge rebuild Engineer to Contract.
