Rivers Management

Rivers Management & Maintenance

Client:
Tasman District Council (TDC)
Date:
2025 – present

In June and July 2025, the Tasman district experienced severe rain events that caused widespread flooding across the district, and damage to roads, bridges, residential properties, farmland and other key infrastructure.

We worked with Tasman District Council, initially as part of the immediate response team to design and manage a short to medium-term programme of works and contractors to remove high-risk debris to remediate the river catchment.

Moving into the recovery phase, we created asset management and financial management and reporting tools to integrate prioritisation of the programme with financial reporting for TDC and funders.

In the delivery of the physical works, we are working with contractors and Council’s rivers team, to establish a programme of work to maximise efficiency for the rivers’ resilience and maintenance long-term.

Matt Thomas has negotiated directly with funders, while Matt Loach has led the scoping and engagement of physical works, public consultation and continuous improvement of the systems and process on the ground. Brendon will monitor the performance against budget and programme, with a focus on continuous improvement.
